Well done to George, voted player of the match by Edlesborough for his batting and fielding and Chloe voted player of the match by her team-mates for her fantastic all round play , to Harry and Tom for great captaincy and the rest of the team Noah, Sam, Archie, Cody, Dylan & Josh for a great performance. Year 4 Quicksticks Hockey Match v Whitchurch Wednesday 6th June
In preparation for the KS2 School Partnership Finals on 18th June, the Year 4 Hockey team played a practice match against Whitchurch School on Wednesday afternoon. After a slow start, where the team conceded several goals, (they were 7-1 down at one point!) the team really started to work together and thanks to goals from Fin, Stuie and Max , got themselves back in the game. With Lucy and Tilly becoming more confident in defence as the game went on and Annabel battling for every ball in midfield, the improvement in their play was evident in the results as the game finished 10-8 to Whitchurch. The team now look forward to the rematch at Stoke Mandeville on the 18th. On Thursday May 10th members of St Michael's Years 5 and 6 Girls football team enjoyed a football tournament on the astro at Buckingham school, competing against 12 other schools from across the Partnership. In their pool of 4 teams the girls got off to a great start with a 2-0 win against Waddesdon thanks to two great strikes from Kirsty. This was followed up by an exciting but goalless draw with Winslow and a comprehensive win against Roundwood school. Despite not conceding a goal or suffering a defeat St Michael's narrowly missed out on a place in the overall final but earned another battle against Winslow in the 3rd place play-off. Once again it was a tight game with both teams having a chance to secure the win but it was St Michael's who got the goal, through a close range effort from Chloe right on the final whistle, therefore giving the team a well-deserved bronze medal. Change4Life Festival Tuesday 17th April
For the first time the Buckingham Schools Sports Partnership organised a Change4Life festival offering pupils in Year 6 a chance to try out a few sports and activities they may not have experienced before. This opportunity was offered to those pupils who aren't always able to access extracurricular sports or would like to experience something a little different from what we offer in school. Therefore on the first day back three excited children from Year 6, Megan , Millie and Leah enjoyed an enjoyable afternoon not only trying out several activities including trampolining, table tennis, tenpin bowling, and Zumba, but also meeting pupils from other schools, some of whom would be joining them at secondary schools next year. Well done to the girls for having a go at everything with great enthusiasm and thank you to Mrs Tofield for transporting us all there and back. Carrying on with this theme to engage all pupils in activity and create healthy habits for exercise and well-being once they leave primary school, Year 6 will be enjoying a few taster sessions of new activities and sports alongside the curriculum activities we normally teach during the summer. These will include lacrosse, cycling, korfball, volleyball and orienteering.

Year 3 and 4 Spring Review - Spring Term Celebration 15th March 2018
On 15th March Year 3 and 4 pupils, Reverend Derbyshire, Parents and staff spent a lovely afternoon in St. Michael’s church. The children entertained us beautifully with poems, dance, music, stories and singing. They gave us a snippet of all the wonderful work they have been doing. I thoroughly enjoyed my afternoon and I know many of the parents did too. I think one thing that really struck me was how happy and relaxed the children were. They were confident, clear and very proud of what they had achieved- and rightly so. Well done year 3 and 4 and thank you for a most enjoyable afternoon. A very big thank you to all the staff who worked so hard with the children . Thank you to Mrs Hayhurst who taught our year 3 children how to play the dood. They were fantastic! Thank you to Mrs Wiseman who runs the lunchtime choir each week. The choir were a joy to listen to. All your hard work, support and enthusiasm is much appreciated. This was a new venture for us and one which I think was a great success.

Year 5 6 Hockey Tournament 9th February
Report by Megan and Imogen in Year 6 On Friday night, some year 5 and 6 girls took place in an all-girls hockey tournament at Newton Longville after school. We all were split into teams of 5 and played 5 matches each. All of the teams were allowed to substitute any player at any time. Once we had finished all of our matches we were told who would play in the finals but only two teams could participate. In the end it was St Michael’s Green Team and Buckingham School Team that made it to the final. Five minutes passed of cheering and clapping but no goals were scored. A couple of minutes later, our school were all up at the other end of the pitch when the ball was hit and unfortunately Buckingham scored, streaking into first place with St Michael’s coming second. No one was disappointed though as we all had so much fun and tried our hardest. Teams – Blue – Sophie, Ruby, Niamh, Olivia, Emily AB Red – Sinead, Anna, Megan, Imogen, Chloe H Orange – Kirsty, Alia, Elle, Chloe G, Elena. Green – Anna, Maisy, Sanchia, Emily O, Leah
Year 4 Racket Pack Badminton Festival - 5th February
This year England Badminton have launched a new resource for teaching badminton in primary schools - Racket Pack. The activities include a range of team and individual activities to progress pupil’s skills in catching, throwing, forehand & backhand strokes and serving and is measured through their speed and accuracy. A team of eight pupils took part in the festival at The Buckingham school against 9 other teams. After a bit of a shaky start in the competition, the team grew in confidence and put their preparation into practice as they worked hard to improve their skills and gain as many points as possible. After a brilliant performance the team finished in a fantastic 3rd place to earn themselves a place in the Partnership Finals at Stoke Mandeville in June. Well done to Freddie, Matthew, Filip, Jamie, Aimee, Lilianna, Charlotte and Emily on another inspiring Year 4 performance. Their success was mainly due to the fact that the children were keen to practice their skills over the weekend and asked to take rackets and shuttlecocks home with them. Thanks to the parents who supported them with this and came along to cheer them on during the event.

St Michael's 1 (Stuie, Max, Matthew, Tilly, Lucy and Annabel) remained unbeaten ,topped their group thanks to a last minute equaliser against Grenville1 and gained a place in the grand final. Girls Football League Match v Cheddington School 25th Janaury 2018
On Thursday afternoon 10 girls from Years 5 & 6 travelled over to Cheddington School for the second league match of the season. With some of the girls experiencing their first ever football match, the whole team worked well together and had a good portion of the possession throughout the game. After conceding 2 goals in the first half they fought back with Kirsty scoring a late goal but the team couldn't quite break down a solid Cheddington defensive wall to gain the equaliser they so deserved. Well done to players of the match Chloe and Alice, debutants Sinead and Emily and the rest of the St Michael's team, Kirsty, Imogen, Niamh, Sophie, Sanchia & Florence on a great 'fight-back' and remixing positive after such a frustrating 2-1 defeat. Many thanks to the parents for transporting and supporting.

There are no right or wrong answers and you can choose to answer as few or as many as you have time for. Share a drink and a croissant with your child or children at the same time.
